Title of Position Part Time Pool Tech

Department Landscape and Grounds
Employee Class Nonexempt Part-time
Basic Responsibilities

A. Works as directed by the immediate supervisor and/or the Director of Landscape & Grounds 

B. Work in maintaining the fountains located on campus in an effort to enhance the beauty of ACU 

C. Assist other trades & grounds personnel as needed in spirit of cooperation and teamwork 

D. Continue to develop & cross-train in a manner that will keep personnel up-to-date and safe 

Essential Duties

A. Works as directed by the immediate supervisor and/or the Director of Landscape & Grounds 

1. Follow established rules, police, & procedures of the Landscape & Grounds Department and ACU 

2. Order materials & supplies as needed for the completion of work orders 

3. Fill out work orders & written reports daily 

4. Display necessary work initiative to work alone or in groups 

B. Maintain the water quality, clean and monitor the mechanical parts of the fountains in the ACU landscape to the university's standard 

C. Assist other trades & grounds personnel as needed in spirit of cooperation and teamwork 

D. Continue to develop and cross-train in a manner that will keep personnel up-to-date and safe: 

1. Attend ACU approved, work-related training sessions 

2. Clean & maintain equipment to extend the life of the equipment, and maintain resources of the University 

3. Perform work in a safe manner 

Professional Development Requirements  A. Skills 

1. Knowledge of hand and power tools 

2. Skilled in all areas of water quality and fountain/pool maintenance. 

B. Training Modules Required 

1. Written and verbal communication skills 

2. Must have basic safety training 

3. Emphasize excellent customer relations and service

Qualifications

A. Professional 

1. High school diploma or GED and five (5) years of hands-on experience with landscape, grass & interior plant materials 

2. Or associate degree in Horticulture 

B. Personal 

1. Successful candidate must be honest, trustworthy, dependable, responsible, punctual, and have a good moral character and work ethic 

2. Must submit to post offer, pre-employment physical examination/medical history check 

3. Possession of a valid Texas driver's license is a requirement of this job 

4. Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check 

5. Must be neat & clean in appearance at all times 

Physical Demands

A. Good health & stamina to lift; carry & pull loads in excess of fifty pounds

B. Must be able to climb a ladder 

C. Must be able to work in extreme heat/cold weather conditions
