Title of Position Testing Specialist

Basic Responsibilities A. Organize administrative testing activity
B. Retain records of all testing activities
C. Maintain a professional working relationship with University faculty and professional staff
D. Coordinate disability testing accommodations for qualified students
E. Supervise student employees
F. Assist with New Student Orientation testing activities
G. Provide confidential and safe testing environment
Essential Duties

A. Organize administrative testing activity
1. Communicate with professors and instructors to secure exams for all scheduled accommodated tests
2. Administer and proctor all academic accommodated exams

3. Oversee the development, implementation and monitoring of procedures and protocols for the testing center
4. Oversee and maintain all testing files, testing materials, and computer software
5. Plan and organize national test administrations
6. Organize and proctor all for credit and for placement exams including certain departmental entrance /exit exams

B. Retain records of all testing activities
1. Keep records of various services received by students, i.e., testing, readers, scribes, and private rooms
2. Report accommodation statistics to ADA Compliance Officer or UAP Director each semester
3. Record all relevant test scores into Banner
4. Record received payment fees amount and payment types
5. Maintain documentation of problematic situations
C. Maintain a professional working relationship with University faculty and professional staff
1. Develop relationships with faculty to better assist student success through academic testing accommodations
2. Attend departmental meetings or make presentations regarding the services provided by the testing center
3. Answer questions presented by faculty or department chairs regarding testing procedures and protocols
4. Address academic integrity violations with faculty, department heads, and the Associate Director of Academic Support Programs
5. Work closely with academic advising staff and academic department chairs regarding testing policies and procedures
6. Serve as liaison between student and faculty for testing accommodation issues

D.Coordinate disability testing accommodations for qualified students
1. Oversee and implement testing accommodations
2. Work closely with faculty to secure exams and clear and concise testing instructions
3. Assist qualified students with all concerns/issues regarding testing and scheduling
4. Schedule testing accommodations for each student based on his/her specific academic needs
5. Guarantee a confidential return of all exams and testing materials to faculty

E. Supervise student employees
1. Hire qualified students to work with in the testing center
2. Train students to perform duties associated with accommodated testing
3. Schedule student employees as necessary to cover workflow

F. Coordinate New Student Orientation testing activities

1. Work closely with the Associate Director of Academic Support programs to provide staffing
2. Schedule testing for incoming students
3. Assist in the data input process entering test scores and student fees
4. Work flexible schedule including evening hours

G. Provide confidential and safe testing environment
1. Responsible for exam security
2. Ensure all testers are provided a testing atmosphere conducive to student success
3. Provide a safe environment for all testers
4. Remain confidential regarding all areas of testing

1. Testing software – frequent updates
2. Continuing professional development training

Qualifications

A. Professional
1. Bachelor’s degree required
2. Work with diverse populations
3. Supervisory and scheduling experience
4. Administrative experience is preferred
5. Previous experience in an academic environment
6. Previous experience administering exams

B. Personal
1. Professional demeanor
2. Ability to prioritize responsibilities and tasks
3. Ability to supervise others and organize work schedules
4. Must contribute to an environment that encourages respect for and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds
